BIOGRAPHY

Hamza is an experienced litigator. He has a strong record of acting for clients in high-value commercial disputes. Hamza regularly handles cases with an international profile and which are multi-jurisdictional in scope. Amongst other areas, Hamza has acted for clients in contractual disputes, oil and gas disputes, cases of minority oppression, director’s duties, employment disputes and in a number of tort cases. He has particular expertise in defamation and malicious falsehood cases.

Hamza also has significant experience in international arbitration, having acted for clients in a number of high value cases, including those under the auspices of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre and UNCITRAL Rules.

Hamza is also experienced in criminal defence and has acted for clients in a wide range of “white collar” cases and also extradition matters.

Hamza graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in law (JD) from the Singapore Management University (SMU) in 2017. He was the recipient of the Peggy Phang Prize for the Top Student in Legal Theory and Philosophy.

In addition to his JD, Hamza holds an MA (Distinction) in International Political Economy from King’s College London and BA (Second Class Honours, Upper) in English Literature and Modern History from the University of St Andrews. His strong academic background has equipped him with the critical thinking and communication skills to be an effective advocate.

Successfully resisted the Plaintiffs’ application to amend their claims to pre-empt a striking out application.
